Digital Book Report: Glogster

The hard part is done.  As you and your club have discussed your novel, you've tracked the characters, made connections, considered important passages that resonated with you, etc.

Let the fun begin....create a virtual poster using Glogster!

Step One: Analysis of the Book

  1. One last meeting:  In your book club groups, analyze the sequence of the plot.

Follow the plot pyramid steps: explain the exposition, conflict, and rising action.

Do not include the falling action or resolution.

  1. On your own, analyze the important traits about the main characters.  Use the graphic organizer that we practiced in class.

  1. Write a 30 second movie trailer.  Leave questions at the end to persuade others to read the book.  Give the viewer a basic idea of the plot, yet intrigue them to check the book out and read it for themselves.

Step Two: Selecting Images

  1. Find appropriate images that represent the significant events and important traits about main characters.

Your Glogster Must Include:

  1. Movie Trailer: produce as a webcam, or if you’re adventurous, create and embed a movie using Moviemaker.  see examples: A Teacher's Funeral: A Comedy in Three Parts,  Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

  2. One Read Aloud Master Passages: Text or record the reading as a video (webcam). Include the page and reason why the author included it.

  3. Mini Biography of the Author: Research an interview or bio online. You could include other books they’ve written, and what inspired them to write this book.

  4. Two character traits: two different methods used by the author, proof from the text, pg. #

  5. Connection

   6.   Significant images (include sources with the link feature).

   7.   Background relates to the theme of the story.
