In the story "Lush" by Natasha Friend, Sam uses notes as a way to speak to a total stranger, and get advice. Sam does this, because Sam's too scared, and embarrassed to talk to someone about her problems face-to-face. So Sam decides to send a note to a random girl at the library, so Sam can let out her real feelings, and secrets, and than she can get the advice she needs. This reminds me of how on some of the "Seventeen" magizines I read there are people that post their comments to get advice, on issues that they feel like they can't tell friends or family, so instead they post it as anonymous.  Then other people that have no idea who posted the comment, will write back to them, and try to help them through a tough time. The Seventeen magazine, and the book "Lush" are alike in the way that there is a person that is lost with their feelings, and what to do, so they search for answers from other people.

In the book "Lush" by Natasha Friend, Sam's dad finally takes part in yoga with Sam, and her Mom. Sam and her mom are both pretty good with it, because it is one step closer to Sam's father being recovered from his alcoholic problem.

I can relate this to an episode of "That's So Raven". Raven's father finally decides to take part in an exercise routine that raven's Mom does, but the difference between Sam's problem and Raven's is that Sam's mom thinks that it's good that Sam's dad is taking part in the yoga, and so dose Sam. With Raven though she thinks the total opposite of it, Raven hates that her dad is doing this, and to make it even worse the night of Raven's dad's big workout Raven has a party, and it so happens that Raven's dad is doing the workout right where all of Raven's friends can see him.

In the book "Lush" by Natasha Friend Sam is very nervous, upset and panicked. Mrs. Parker has arranged four orange chairs in a square in the waiting room of the hospital, and is delivering the news about what happened to Sam's brother Luke. A quote fromt he book that shows how Sam feels is "Mom?" I can feel the panic rising in my own voice. "Is Luke okay?" This scence of the book I read reminds me of another book I read caalled" My Sister's Kepper". In that book Kate's family is sitting in the waiting room of the hospital with knees shaking, and eyes fixed on the door the Kate got wheelchaired in. When all of a sudden the door opens, and a docter walks over to the family, and spaeks quietly and shaky "Something went wrong," I can connect these two scences, because they both take place in a hospital. Also in each book it clearly states the feelings of each character.

(T-W) In the book "Lush" by Natasha Friend Charlie, and Sam get into a fight, but it is not, because of really what happened between them. It more revolves around what happened to Sam's brother. I can connect this part of the book to what happenens between different country's goverments, because they get into fights with eachother, but not because of what they did to eachother, but because of the issue behind it all that makes them turn against eachother.

In the book "Lush" by Natash Friend I can connect the part of thr book where Sam is saying that her family MAY be normal, like evry other family is. Just for once, and just because they are having fun, and everyone loves eachother. I can connect this to every family, because I bet that once before every family has said "I wish we could just be a normal family". The truth is though I don't thinki there is such thing as a normal family. All families are different. Each one has their own problems, and their own ups, and downs and even their own way of showing their love.

In the story, Lush by Natasha Friend, Luke and Sam are naming off all the things they want to do with their dad when he comes home. This reminded me of a time when I was at a Vollmer family reunion. My little cousins missed me, so they were all arguing with each other with who was going to do what with me.

WEEK_6

(T-S) When Sam finally smashes the bottles that her dad hid before. It reminded me of the time when sister was hidding her test that she did bad on, and when my dad found them he didn't say anything, until he started to take the tests and put them in the computer desk. By that point she had realized that he had found out.

(T-S) In the book Lush by Natasha Friend, Samskipped school, and by the time she gets home her mom is in the kitychen hyperventilating. Ready to call the cops. After Sams mom gets throuhg with squeezing her to death. They begin talking Sam believes that all night in the kichen with her mom can be either a good thing or a bad thing. This reminds me of when I came home later then my mom ecspected, and she got really worried about me until I walked through the front door. We both sat up all night just talking about ranbom things, but to me I think that was a good thing.

WEEK_5
(T-S) Sam is finally going to meet "A.J.K" the person that she writes notes to. She was scared because she didn't know if she/he wold like her. It reminds me of my old pen pal Maddie, and we got to go skating to meet each other, but I didn't know what she would think about me.

(T-S) Book Club 5: TS29

In the story, Lush by Natasha Friend, Sam had found out who A.J.K is. A.J.K is Alexander Jessup Jaufman, but likes to be called Jesse. He is the boy who works in the school library, but isn't the best looking. Sam didn't expect A.J.K to be Jesse, so she ran away from him. This part in the story reminded me of a time when I was about nine years old. We were put into partner's by the instructor's choice. I noticed a girl who was compaining about being stuck with a girl. She kept asking several other girls to switch partners, which made her partner's feelings hurt. I felt bad, so I traded partners with her. I thought this related to that part in the story because Sam, and the girl in my story that wanted to switch partners just judjed them by their looks, not their personality.

In the book "Lush" by Natasha Friend, I can connect the part of the book where Sam is looking for just anymore to turn to. The thing is the one person she is going to turn to only exists in the pages of a book that hasn't been checked out of the library for 13 years. I can connect this part of the book to a reality show called "My Life As Liz ". In this show Liz is going through some tough times, But Liz finds one person to turn to a guy friend in a banana suit, and he is ready to go to a costume party, but that dosn't stop Sam's friend from being there for Sam. It seems that even in the toughest times you could always find someone to help you through it, even if that person is dressed in a banana suit!

T-S: In this section of Lush, Sam's dad has gone back to drinking. When he had drank too much, Luke had accidently spilt his juice on his work paper's. Sam's dad was furious, so he hit Luke in the head with his glass bottle. After he had done this, he felt guilty about what he did. Sam yelled at him to sit in a chair, and think about what he did, and he did.

This part of the book reminded me of a time when I was babysitting two young kids. The youngest child had accidently broke her older brother's C.D player. Of course, the older brother got furious, and decided it was okay to hurt his younger sister. When he did, I told him to think about what he did in a corner, just like Sam told her father. The little boy did, and came back with a good apology.

In the story Lush by Natasha Friend, Ever since Luke has come home from the hospital he has woken up eight nights in a row crying. Sam desides to get up, and try to calm Luke. With happy thouhgts thinking about what they are going to do when they see their Nana. It seem's as if Sam is more of a mom then her mom is. This reminds me of how many diffrent kid can get attached to a person that is around them all the time, and wont want to go with anyone eles. I perdict that this will happen , and Luke will get attched to Sam and wont want to go with his mom.

Week four-
(T-S) When Sam is trying to get the guts to go into the party, but she is too nervous, and a lot younger that everybody. It reminds me of the time when me and my friend Angelica were going to her somebody's Halloween party, and we were nervous because we knew no one there and they were much older than us.

In the story, Lush by Natasha Friend Sam and luke are upstairs trying to be quite so their dad can work. After a while Luke starte to get thirsty, but wants the jucise his mom makes instead of water. So sam has no choice but to bring Luke downstairs.
Well Sam is in the Kitchen Luke in out in the living room dancing and laughing. Once Sam comes out with the juice she decides to join in and starts dancing. Sam's dad raises his voice and comes out of his study room with a fistful of blueprints in one hand and a bottle of Jim Beam in another. Luke thinks this is all a game, so he runs up beside his dad and spills juice all over the blueprints. Causind he's dad to drop the Jim Beam bottle on lukes head. This reminds me of how all over the world parents that are "big drinker" end up doing somthing they shouldn't be doing. Which later on effects their Children if they had somthing to do with it or not.

Week 3- Text to Self
When Luck gets hit in the face with a glass and needs to go to the hospital. When Sam is holding a towel to his face to stop the bleeding. This reminded me of the time I was told to get off of the arm of the chair, and didn't listen so Meagan throw a feather pillow (thick, heavy) at my head. I fell head first onto a broken picture frame and got glass in my head. The part that stuck out to me was that Sam was holding a towel on Luke's head just like Meags did for me.

In this section of "Lush" by "Natasha Friend", the girls in the school have a list with names with the best something on it. All the girls are so desperate and crazy about it, that they have to crowd around the list, and get all dulled up! This reminded me of a time when I was at a dance workshop. At the workshop you got put into groups with famous choreographer's. The way that some girls prepared themselves and crowded around the list, sounded exactly like what happened in Lush.

T-T The book "Lush" by "Natasha Friend", reminds me alot of the book "Speak". In both Lush, and Speak, they both have a youngr teenage girl, going through lot's of drama, and problems with her friends, highschol, and problems at home. Speak and Lush both have the same line to follow in teenage drama!

Ts29, Text to Self.

In the story, Lush by Natasha Friend, Sam's father has come home from a late night drinking. He is making loud noises, and yelling in the dark. Sam's dad ends up stubbing his toe hard in the hallway on the way to his bed. This reminded me of a time when we were renevating our hallway upstairs. We had planks in the hall ready for someone to trip over them. My mom wokeup half alseep making her way to the washroom, and ended up tripping over a plank in the pitch black, and landed face first into the floor. It was very funny to hear her scream! This reminded me of Sam's dad because the way my mom reacted when she fell: loudly, and painfully. Was the same was Sam's dad reacted in the book.

(T-S) When Sam wants to give a random stranger the note; yet she was too scared to face her fears, and tell somebody about the problems in her life. This reminded me of how I can feel that way when I try to make and new friend or talk to somebody I don't know and I try to tell them a big part of my life or one of my secrets.
